This week, we have been multiplying a 1 digit number by a 2 digit number. We have been paying a lot of attention on the presentation and layout of our calculations.
Initially, we looked at calculations that didn’t require any carrying. Once we had grasped the process and concept, we moved on to calculations that required us to carry tens.
Top Tips:
Remember to put one digit in each box.
Remember to calculate the ones first.
Remember to carry any tens under the total bar in the tens column.
Remember to add the carried tens.
Below is an example of how we would calculate 37 x 4 using column multiplication.
